(Schrad.) Dumort.
A paroicous leafy liverwort which grows on rotting wood as well as living bark on tree boles and trunks. It is similar to Lophocolea bidentata and sometimes grows with it, but although its lower leaves are bilobed the upper leaves are entire. It is found throughout Britain except for the north of Scotland and it is widespread in Wales, but not as common as Lophocolea bidentata. It is frequent in West Glamorgan. Sporophytes are usually abundant.
