Lejeunea lamacerina Western Pouncewort

(Steph.) Schiffn.

A small, autoicous leafy liverwort which resembles Lejeunea cavifolia and grows in similar places but generally more often found on rock. The smaller lobule of the leaf makes a very obtuse angle and the oil bodies in the leaf cells are larger and fewer (see photos) than those of Lejeunea cavifolia. It also has a similar western and northern distribution in Britain and it is at least as common as Lejeunea cavifolia in West Glamorgan where it frequently occurs as an epiphyte. Sporophytes are frequent.
