Schimp.
A slender, Suboceanic, dioicous, pleurocarpous moss that forms wiry patches on shaded rocks in woodlands and ravines, often near streams and rivers. It is similar to Heterocladium heteropterum , and regarded by some as just a variety of it, but it grows on drier more base-rich rock. It has a patchy western and northern distribution in Britain and it is locally frequent in Wales. There are scattered records of it in the upland valleys of West Glamorgan but it is absent from Gower. Sporophyte capsules have not been recorded in Britain.
