(Spruce) Schimp.
A subaquatic, autoicous Pocket-moss with prominently bordered leaves and a prominent, yellowish nerve which extends beyond the leaf tip. It grows on rocks at the sides of streams and rivers which are at least intermittently submerged. It is a comparatively rare Mediterranean-Atlantic species in Britain with a distinct southwestern distribution. It is very rare in West Glamorgan with just one pre-mellenium record from the Nedd Fechan Valley near Glyn Neath. Sporophyte capsules are occasional in summer and autumn.
