Eurhynchium striatum Common Striated Feather-moss

(Hedw.) Schimp.

A dioicous, pleurocapous moss of slightly acidic, neutral or base-rich soils or rock in broad-leaved woodlands. The pale or yellowy-green shoots often form large mats or mounds with traingular, toothed leaves that have conspicuous folds along their length giving them a stripy appearance. It is widespread and common in Britain except for the highlands of the far north and it is found throughout Wales. It is a common woodland species in West Glamorgan. Sporophyte capsules are uncommon.
