A dioicous, acrocarpous moss which forms pale green patches on calcareous substrates such old motared walls, limestone rock and base-rich tracks. The broad, bluntly-pointed leaves have a long nerve that ends in the tip. It is found thoughout most of Britain and is common and widespread in Wales. It is scattered widely in West Glamorgan both in the lowlands and along forest roads dressed with calcaeous gravel in the uplands. Sporophyte capsules are rare.
