Bryum sauteri Sauter's Thread-moss

Bruch, Schimp. & W.Guembel

A very small, often tiny dull-green Bryum with brown tubers on its rhizoids. It seems to prefer soils which are temporarily exposed, e.g mole hills, disturbed soil around badger setts and bare soil on banks. It has a fairly distinct western distribution in Britain and it is much more common in west Wales than south Wales. However it is an inconspicuous species and easy to overlook. There are only a few records of it in West Glamorgan.
