Bryum archangelicum Small-mouthed Thread-moss

Bruch, Schimp. & W.Guembel

A synoicous Bryum of calcareous soils such as crevices in limestone rocks, areas where there is limestone gravel and waste places. Microscopic study of capsules and inflorescences is required in order to secure identification and, consequently, it is probably under recorded in Britain. In West Glamorgan there are just a few records of it from coastal habitats in Gower. Sporophyte capsules are common from spring onwards.
