Brachythecium albicans Whitish Feather-moss

(Hedw.) Schimp.

An upright, little-branched, whitish-green, dioicous, pleurocarpous moss of sandy or gravelly soils, mostly in lowland habitats. It is common in semi-fixed sand dunes all along the coast of West Glamorgan, often growing with Syntrichia ruraliformis. ItĀ also occurs inland albeit rather sparingly on gravellly soils.
