Aulacomnium palustre Bog Groove-moss

(Hedw.) Schwaegr.

An attractive, dioicous, acrocarpous moss of wet, acidic, peaty soils in heathland, moorland, marshy grasslands and bogs. It is common and abundant in these habitats throughout Wales and in West Glamorgan. It produces capsules occasionally. The pale yellow-green colour and the abundant felt-like rhizoids that clothe the stems make this a fairly distinctive moss.
