Atrichum undulatum Common Smoothcap

(Hedw.) P.Beauv.

One of the most common and widespread acrocarpous mosses in Britain, found almost everywhere in suitable places throughout the country. The wavy, crimped leaves which are pointed and toothed are conspicuous features. Mnium hornum, which is similar, does not have wavy leaves. It is a plant of shaded habitats, particularly woodland, prefering acidic soils. It is monoicous and capsules are common. It is found throughout West Galmorgan.
