Aneura pinguis Greasewort

(L.) Dumort.

This aptly named thallose liverwort has a thick, greasy looking thallus. However it is rather variable in form and a number of varieties have been named. It is common in damp places such as flushes, gravel tracks and wet places on dunes. It is widespread and common in West Glamorgan and frequent along forest tracks.
