(Schimp.) Lindb.
An almost black, autoicous, acrocarpous moss, which produces capsules in the spring. Subspecies falcata is the taxon most often recorded in West Glamorgan, usually on siliceous rocks in upland habitats such as sandstone outcrops and scree, mostly in Neath Port Talbot. However, remarkably, it has also been recorded on a limestone ledge in the eastern outcrops of Deep Slade in Gower where it occurs as a distinct outlier from its main distributional range in the county. The prominent thick nerve distinguishes it from Andreaea rupestris.
